In the midst of the electoral atmosphere in Assam, discussions around development and tourism have intensified. Aaj Tak's special program 'Panchayat Aaj Tak' focused on this topic, featuring officials and entrepreneurs from the state’s tourism sector. They detailed the possibilities of transforming Assam into a global tourism center, highlighting that Assam is known as the 'Land of the Red River and Blue Hills.' Notably, more than 50% of the tea consumed in India comes from Assam's tea gardens, and the state boasts UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park.

During the discussions, Kumar Padmapani Bora, Chairman of the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC), emphasized that the state government has taken several significant steps in the last five years to promote tourism. He pointed out that the most considerable change has been in law and order, which previously deterred people from visiting the Northeast. Due to improvements in law enforcement and peace accords, the trust of tourists in the region has increased. Bora noted that the enhanced law and order situation is crucial in making tourists feel safer and more welcome in Assam.
