The Nissan LEAF has won the prestigious Women's Car of the Year (WWCOTY) award for 2026, triumphing over 55 competitors. An international jury of 86 leading female automotive journalists from over 50 countries recognized the LEAF for its simple user interface, extended driving range, and affordable pricing. These factors contributed to its selection as the top overall winner among the various categories awarded by the WWCOTY organization.

In addition to the grand prize for the LEAF, several other categories were highlighted, showcasing the diversity of automobile choices in the market. The awards included Best Compact Car for the Nissan LEAF, Best Compact SUV for the Å koda Elroq, Best Large Car for the Mercedes-Benz CLA, Best Large SUV for the Hyundai Ioniq 9, Best 4x4 for the Toyota 4Runner, and Best Sports Car for the Lamborghini Temerario. The announcement underscores the increasing influence of women's voices in automotive journalism and decision-making processes.

Marta García, the president of WWCOTY, noted that while the voting was exceptionally close, the LEAF's 'mature and smart vision' set it apart from the competition. This recognition not only highlights the Nissan LEAF's practicality but also indicates a shift towards valuing functionality and user experience in vehicle design, appealing to a broader audience in an evolving automotive landscape.
