After the ruling against the dairy farm – the County Administrative Board investigates animal ban

The Swedish County Administrative Board is investigating the possibility of an animal ban at a dairy farm following serious animal cruelty findings.

Following a ruling against a dairy farm on Öland, the County Administrative Board of Sweden is examining the possibility of imposing an animal ban on the farm. Christina Karlberg, the communications manager of the board, refrained from discussing which of the two men is under investigation for potential animal restrictions due to the ongoing nature of the inquiry. This decision comes after the board discovered severe deficiencies at the farm during an inspection in December, leading to a summons for penalties.

The initial inspection highlighted significant welfare issues, suggesting that the conditions under which the animals were kept were inadequate. A follow-up visit in February indicated that improvements had been made, as only minor issues were found at the farm. The County Administrative Board plans to conduct further inspections to ensure that the modifications introduced are sustainable and continue to meet animal welfare standards.

The investigation was triggered by revelations from hidden cameras set up by the Animal Rights Alliance, which revealed instances of animal abuse at the dairy farm. These disturbing images were shown on a broadcast by TV4's Kalla fakta, leading to heightened public scrutiny and action from regulatory authorities to address animal welfare concerns in the dairy industry.
