O2 customers given free network upgrade with faster speeds from today

O2 is providing a free upgrade to its 5G+ network for Pay Monthly customers equipped with compatible devices, enhancing speed and efficiency.

O2 has announced that it is rolling out a complimentary upgrade to its 5G+ network for all Pay Monthly subscribers. This upgrade is available to customers who have a compatible phone and SIM card, allowing them to access significantly faster mobile internet speeds. The telecom giant is implementing 5G standalone technology, which operates independently of the older 4G infrastructure, thus promising improved speed and reliability for users.

The deployment of the 5G+ network is designed to provide an enhanced mobile experience, with O2 estimating that the new speeds will be approximately 50% faster than standard 4G connectivity. One of the benefits of the 5G+ system is that it may also improve battery performance on compatible devices, as users will not have to switch between different network technologies, resulting in more efficient power usage.

Currently, O2's 5G+ service is live in over 700 towns and cities across the UK, marking a significant expansion of their network capabilities. This move reflects the ongoing competition among mobile carriers to enhance service quality and technological advancements, positioning O2 as a key player in the UK's 5G landscape and potentially attracting more customers to its Pay Monthly plans.
