The Acre River in Rio Branco has surpassed the alert level, measuring 11.13 meters due to recent rainfall.

The Acre River in Rio Branco has recorded a significant increase in water level, measuring at 11.13 meters as of Thursday morning. This marks a rise of 66 centimeters since the previous day's measurement of 10.47 meters. The Municipal Civil Defense reported that approximately 55.40 mm of rain fell over the past 48 hours, contributing to the river's current status which exceeds the alert threshold. The expected rainfall for March is considerably higher, with forecasts indicating 276 mm for the entire month.

The rise in the river's level began to garner attention when it surpassed the alert level on the evening of March 9. Historical data revealed that the river's level increased by more than 44 centimeters during the day, elevating concerns for local residents and authorities. Since Monday, the water level has risen consistently, with a total increase of 1.24 meters recorded from 9.89 meters at the start of the monitoring period to its current level. Prior to this surge, the river was last above 10 meters on February 13, suggesting a pattern of fluctuating water levels in the region.

Local officials and the Civil Defense have established alert thresholds in response to these conditions, reacting to previous fluctuations such as a low of 7.41 meters on February 17. Community preparedness and response plans are critical in mitigating any potential flooding risks associated with the river's variable levels, particularly given the significant anticipated rainfall this month. The situation continues to be closely monitored as weather conditions evolve.
