A relaunch to return to the basics and focus solely on corn
Semillas Illinois has announced a relaunch at Expoagro 2026, returning to its original focus on corn production after a six-year absence from the event.
Semillas Illinois, a brand of the Grupo GDM, recently relaunched at Expoagro 2026, marking its return to the agricultural showcase after a six-year hiatus. The firm announced a strategic shift, deciding to focus exclusively on corn, a decision that reflects its original purpose established over twenty years ago. This is a significant change as the company previously engaged in the commercialization of soybeans and wheat as well.
During an interview with ClarΓn Rural, Segundo Delor, Brand Manager of the company, emphasized that Illinois is entering a new phase that involves specializing in corn, which he described as a complex yet beautiful crop. He underscored the importance of this specialization, asserting that it is integral to providing the best services and solutions for producers in Argentina and Uruguay. This renewed emphasis on corn production aligns with the company's historical foundations, which began with a breeding program in Entre RΓos.
Delor also pointed out that focusing solely on corn will enable Illinois to create a dedicated team that can better support growers in these regions. By returning to its roots, the company aims to strengthen its market position and enhance its offerings in the corn segment, catering specifically to the needs of local producers who rely heavily on this essential crop. This strategy is expected to foster innovation and improvements in corn cultivation as Illinois seeks to fulfill its commitment to the agricultural community.
