Again not responding? The mistake may not be yours, companies are posting 'ghosting' positions
Czech companies are increasingly advertising 'ghost jobs'—positions that may not actually exist or are uncertain, leaving job applicants without responses.
In Czechia, job portals showcase numerous new listings with enticing slogans like 'we're growing' and 'join us', creating an illusion of active recruitment. However, as highlighted by Martin Miko, founder of the consulting platform Workify, not all job postings represent genuine hiring efforts. This phenomenon, termed 'ghost jobs', indicates that companies might post positions that either do not exist or are filled without notifying candidates.
This trend leaves applicants frustrated as they apply and often hear nothing back from the employers. In some instances, even if a candidate participates in interviews, communication may abruptly cease, often with recruiters citing 'changed priorities' as a reason for the lack of follow-up. Many of these positions resurface weeks later, suggesting a cycle of misleading job listings in the employment landscape.
Such practices not only contribute to job seeker demoralization but also reflect poorly on the hiring firms' reputation. As job candidates increasingly encounter these 'ghosting' situations, it raises concerns about transparency and ethics in recruitment processes, ultimately impacting the overall job market dynamics in Czechia.
