An invitation for seniors in Vilnius to start spring with deeper breathing
Vilnius is launching a series of spring sessions aimed at seniors to promote well-being through breathing exercises and relaxation practices.
The municipality of Vilnius has introduced a new initiative aimed at engaging seniors in revitalizing spring sessions that focus on breathing and relaxation exercises. The sessions will be held every Sunday until May 31, offering a unique opportunity for older residents to explore increasingly popular techniques designed for improved daily wellbeing. The initiative will take place in a well-known local sports complex, which has recently added a Finnish sauna to its facilities, making it an attractive spot for both active recreation and relaxation.
Valdas Benkunskas, the Mayor of Vilnius, emphasized the city's commitment to making Vilnius a livable place for all generations. He stated that the city continuously seeks innovative ways to encourage seniors to be more active, social, and to enjoy leisure activities. This initiative not only highlights the importance of physical health for older adults but also fosters social interaction and community engagement, which are vital for their overall wellbeing.
As the first session is set to kick off on March 15, it will serve as a starting point for a series of sessions where participants will learn simple breathing, relaxation, and light movement techniques tailored for seniors. This approach aligns with the growing trend worldwide of integrating mindful practices into daily routines, aiming to boost both mental and physical health among older populations in Vilnius.
