Brazil's inflation rate rose by 0.7% in February 2023, marking a 12-month increase of 3.81%.
According to the National Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), Brazil's inflation rate, measured by the IPCA (Broad Consumer Price Index), increased by 0.7% in February 2023. This rise is notably higher than Januaryβs increase of 0.33%, signaling a potential shift in the economic landscape as inflation hits a 12-month cumulative total of 3.81%. This figure aligns with the target set by the National Monetary Council (CMN) for 2026 and is lower than the previous year's inflation rate of 4.44%. The lower inflation indicates a slowdown in Brazil's economy, largely attributed to elevated interest rates in recent months.
