A passenger train from China has arrived in Pyongyang for the first time in six years, signaling a resumption of train services suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The state news agency Xinhua reported the arrival of the first passenger train in central Pyongyang after a six-year hiatus. Previously, journalists from South Korea's Yonhap agency observed the train crossing the Friendship Bridge over the Yalu River, marking a significant event in the revival of transport links between North Korea and China. Train services had been halted since 2020 due to strict border controls aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus.
