During a break at Putin High School in Alytus, Lithuania, we spoke with Ukrainian students who relocated there due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Currently, 23 Ukrainians attend the school, with students split across various grades. Among them are sisters Daria and Anastasiia Kyrychuk from Kherson, and classmates Anton Svyrshch from Kharkiv and Dmytro Kiramov from Burshtyn, who are all adjusting to their new educational environment while trying to maintain their passions and interests.

The students shared their thoughts on why they chose Lithuania over other neighboring countries, emphasizing their positive experiences and the friendliness of the local population. They encourage others to approach the integration of foreign students with understanding and support, particularly in learning the Lithuanian language. Their testimonies reflect a larger narrative of resilience and adaptation, as they navigate the challenges posed by the war, maintaining connections with friends and diving into the activities that bring them joy.
