Intermarché, Netto: Sales of Mousquetaires group up 4.2% in 2025
The Mousquetaires group, which includes Intermarché and Netto, reported a 4.2% increase in sales for 2025, benefiting from a recovery in consumer spending in France after a prolonged decline.
The Mousquetaires group, which operates the Intermarché and Netto supermarket chains, experienced a notable increase in sales, reporting a 4.2% rise to €48.66 billion (excluding fuel) by the end of 2025. This positive performance reflects a broader recovery in consumer spending in large retail spaces within France, following a challenging three and a half years marked by consistent declines in sales. The management has emphasized that this growth trajectory underlines their strong dynamic in the market, positioning them as a key player in the French retail landscape.
Specifically, the revenue from Intermarché and Netto contributed significantly to this growth, with the two brands recording a 5.4% increase in sales. This growth has enabled the Mousquetaires group to capture a 17.5% market share by the end of the year, solidifying its position as the third largest distributor in France, behind Leclerc and Carrefour, which hold 24.3% and 21.6% of the market, respectively. The increase in market share illustrates the competitiveness of the group amid a recovering consumer environment.
Looking ahead, the company aims to sustain this momentum in the competitive supermarket sector, leveraging its diverse portfolio of brands. With consumer behavior shifting towards greater value for money, the group’s performance is indicative of broader trends in the retail sector, suggesting that strategic marketing and competitive pricing may play crucial roles in attracting consumers back to brick-and-mortar stores after recent fluctuations in shopping patterns due to economic factors and inflationary pressures.
