Before the outbreak of the Israeli offensive on Gaza on October 7, 2023, Mohammed Abu Awda was a vibrant parkour athlete known for his agility and ability to leap between rooftops. However, the violence of war has turned his body into one of constant pain and disability, rendering him unable to engage in the simple activities necessary for caring for his family. The sudden explosion altered his life forever, leaving him grappling with injuries he cannot fully comprehend, including the loss of his left eye and extensive damage to his hearing, teeth, and jaw. He describes looking in the mirror and feeling a profound disconnect from the reflection that no longer represents his former self.
