New interim head appointed for Alytus A. Ramanauskas-Vanagas gymnasium

Donatas Vasiliauskas has been appointed as the interim director of Alytus A. Ramanauskas-Vanagas gymnasium to stabilize the situation following a recent agreement with the educators.

The Alytus municipality has announced the appointment of Donatas Vasiliauskas as the interim director of Alytus A. Ramanauskas-Vanagas gymnasium, effective from March 12, 2026. This decision was made to stabilize the situation and reassure the community following a prior agreement with the school's educators to change the temporary leadership. Vasiliauskas, currently the director at Alytus Jotvingių gymnasium, was selected to fill the role until a permanent director is appointed, for which a competition has already been announced.

Vasiliauskas brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been recognized as the Lithuanian Teacher of the Year in 2015 and awarded various accolades for his contributions to education, including being named the Economy Teacher of the Year in 2016. His extensive background and recognition in the educational field suggest he has the skills necessary to lead the school during this transitional phase.

Furthermore, the previous interim director, Aleksandras Kirilovas, was relieved of his duties as of March 10, 2026, but will continue to serve in his prior positions. This change in leadership marks a significant step in the governance of the gymnasium, aiming to enhance stability and support for the school's educational mission during this period of transition.
