Brothers congratulated each other on March 11: the younger one is cared for by medics, the older one by police

A violent altercation between two inebriated brothers in Klaipėda on March 11 resulted in injuries and police intervention.

On the evening of March 11, Klaipėda police responded to a report of domestic violence involving two middle-aged brothers. The incident occurred at their residence on Viršutinė Street around 8:18 PM, where the brothers, both significantly intoxicated, engaged in a severe conflict. Reports indicate that a lack of communication and high levels of alcohol contributed to the escalation of the situation.

During the altercation, the older brother, aged 58, assaulted his 52-year-old sibling, causing the latter to require medical assistance due to injuries. Alcohol assessments showed that both individuals had considerable blood alcohol content, with the older brother registering 2.02 and the younger one 1.94 on the breathalyzer. Following the incident, the older brother was taken into custody and placed in the Klaipėda County police detention center.

The case has now entered a preliminary investigation phase under the jurisdiction of the Klaipėda City Police Department, focusing on charges of causing bodily harm or minor health impairment to a family member through violence. This incident highlights ongoing issues surrounding alcohol-related violence within families, particularly during cultural or significant commemorative events such as the national holiday on March 11, which marks the restoration of Lithuania's independence.
