Fifteen years ago he fled after killing his father, now he returned home and the police caught him
A man who fled after murdering his father 15 years ago has been arrested in Gujarat after returning home for Ramadan.
The Surat Crime Branch in Gujarat has cracked a 15-year-old murder case involving Mohammad Imran, alias Guddu, who brutally killed his father in 2011 and assaulted his mother. The incident took place in the Randher area of Surat, where Imran had been living under a false identity in Mumbai for over a decade after the crime. His return home during Ramadan led to his arrest by the Surat police in his village of Arai Rampur in Muzaffarpur district.
The murder stemmed from a dispute between Imran and his father, Mohammad Ataur Rehman Sheikh, over finances and work. Reports suggest that after a heated argument, Imran, in a fit of rage, struck his father with a frying pan, leading to his death. The violent act occurred early in the morning, during which Imran's father had reportedly chastised him for not having a job, escalating the confrontation that ended in tragedy.
Imran's long evasion from the law raises significant questions about the effectiveness of law enforcement in tracking down fugitives over extended periods. His case exemplifies the serious social issues of familial conflicts and the desperation that can lead individuals to commit heinous acts. The resurfacing of such a case also sheds light on the challenges faced by law enforcement in apprehending offenders who have managed to blend into society after their crimes.
