A comedy about our need to exist in a society filled with absurdities and exclusions

Zeti Fitsiu returns with her new comedy "The From Below," which touches on societal absurdities and exclusion, following the success of her previous work.

Following two consecutive sold-out seasons in Athens, along with packed theatres in Greece and abroad with her explosive play "Mixer," Zeti Fitsiu is back with her new comedy "The From Below," which received the National Award for Playwriting in 2022. Directed once again by Kostas Silvestros, the play presents a contemporary, sharp comedy that balances humor and emotion, exploring the nuances of human existence amidst a societal backdrop of absurdity and exclusion.

The play skillfully employs caustic humor and sensitivity, demonstrating the thin line between the rational and the absurd. It sheds light on the cracks in the lives of individuals striving to be heard and recognized. Notable actors including Erikos Litsis, Kostas Kazakas, and Andri Theodotou take the stage in a performance that, with humor, tenderness, and honesty, looks beneath the surface to uncover the stories and realities of those deemed 'useless' by the 'above' world.

Thematically, the piece addresses the dichotomy between the 'above' and 'below,' moving beyond mere spatial concepts to explore hierarchies within society. It raises questions about visibility and access, prompting audiences to reflect on who gets to be seen and heard in a world where merit and worth are often judged by superficial standards. The comedy challenges these norms while providing a thought-provoking commentary on the human condition.
