A minor in Ignalina resisted arrest, injuring two police officers during the encounter.
On March 11, around 6:29 PM in the village of Didžasalys, Ignalina district, a minor attempted to resist arrest and violently confronted police officers. This incident led to injuries of two members of the Utena County Police Department, both of whom were born in 1992 and 1999, respectively. After receiving medical assistance, the injured officers have been treated on an outpatient basis.
The situation escalated when the police attempted to apprehend the minor, who was reportedly not complying with their directives. Following the confrontation, the minor, who was born in 2008, was taken into custody and placed in a detention facility. Consequently, a preliminary investigation has been initiated regarding the minor's resistance to law enforcement officials.
According to the criminal code, individuals who use or threaten to use physical violence against a state employee or someone performing public administration duties may face community service, fines, restrictions on freedom, or imprisonment for up to three years. This incident raises serious concerns about youth behavior and interactions with law enforcement, highlighting the need for improved community engagement and conflict resolution strategies.
