Jeon Han-gil explains the reason for reversing his departure from the party: 'Jang Dong-hyuk's true feelings are about Yoon Again'
Former lecturer Jeon Han-gil has reversed his decision to leave the People Power Party, believing that party leader Jang Dong-hyuk's true feelings align with supporting a political comeback for former President Yoon Suk-yeol.
In a recent development, Jeon Han-gil, a former lecturer with far-right inclinations, publicly addressed his decision to reverse his impending departure from the People Power Party. He expressed his belief through a message on his YouTube channel that the true motivations of Jang Dong-hyuk, the leader of the party, are aligned with the idea of 'Yoon Again', reflecting an intention to support the political revival of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. This comes after a controversial resolution was passed by the party opposing any claims for Yoon's return, which had led Jeon to initially announce his departure.
Jeon's remarks highlight a significant internal struggle within the People Power Party, as he argues that Jang Dong-hyuk's endorsement of the resolution was influenced by pressures from party colleagues. He suggests that while Jang may publicly conform to the party line, his true convictions lie in fostering discussions on election fraud and continuity of Yoon's political vision. Jeon emphasized that this is particular to Jang and should not be generalized to all party members, maintaining hope in Jang's underlying intentions amidst the party dynamics that he views as hostile.
Moreover, Jeon’s statements were reportedly influenced by counsel from Yoon’s legal team, which dissuaded him from leaving the party. This intervention raises questions about the extent of Yoon's influence over party dynamics and the maneuvering of different factions within the People Power Party. Jeon concludes that leaving the party at this juncture would primarily benefit political opponents, particularly Lee Jae-myung and his supporters. Thus, his decision to stay may reflect a deeper strategic consideration within South Korea's polarized political landscape.
