Saint Luigi Orione was born on June 23, 1872, in a poor family in Pontecurone, Italy. He studied at the oratory Valdocco in Turin from 1886 to 1889, where he was regarded by Don Giovanni Bosco as one of his most beloved students. Despite experiencing health issues as a teenager, he witnessed the death of Don Bosco at the age of sixteen, after which he was miraculously healed. This event inspired him to dedicate his life to serving the poor.

At the age of twenty, Orione established an oratory for poor children and opened a vocational school a year later. He was ordained a priest in 1895, and by 1899, he had founded new houses in various locations including Pavia, Sicily, San Remo, and Rome. He gathered clerics and priests under the name 'Workers of Little Works of Divine Providence', which was later sanctioned by bishops as 'Sons of Divine Providence' in 1903, reflecting his dedication to heavenly service and charity.

Orione's life and work emphasize the importance of faith and service to others, particularly in helping the less fortunate.
