Civic Group Files Complaint Against Jang In-soo and Kim Eo-jun Over Allegations of Case Dismissal Transactions

A civic group has reported Jang In-soo to the police for alleging a transaction related to the dismissal of charges against President Lee Jae-myung during a YouTube broadcast.

Jang In-soo, a former journalist who appeared on the YouTube show 'Kim Eo-jun's Humility is Difficult', has been reported to the police by a civic group called the Judicial Justice Solidarity Committee for spreading allegations regarding a supposed transaction about dismissing charges against President Lee Jae-myung. During the broadcast on October 10, Jang claimed that a high-ranking government official closely associated with the president conveyed a message to several senior prosecutors suggesting that they dismiss the charges against him. However, he has yet to provide any specific evidence or sources for these allegations.

In response to Jang's claims, Justice Minister Jeong Seong-ho vehemently denied the allegations, stating that they are not worth discussing and that they represent an absurd conspiracy theory. The ruling party has also reacted to the claims, labeling them as unfounded. The Judicial Justice Solidarity Committee argues that Jang deliberately spread false information to damage the reputation of Minister Jeong and undermine the efforts towards prosecutorial reform in South Korea. They assert that such actions have severely obstructed public trust and should be penalized under related laws.

Furthermore, the civic group has included Kim Eo-jun, the host of the YouTube channel, in their complaint for allegedly assisting in the defamation by allowing Jang's claims to be aired on his platform, thus abusing his influence to propagate the harmful statements. This incident highlights ongoing tensions surrounding allegations of corruption and prosecutorial misconduct in South Korea, reflecting the polarizing nature of politics in the region as various factions respond to the unfolding narratives surrounding powerful officials and public trust in the justice system.
