Dashcam video captures Burnaby road rage incident from August 2025

Burnaby RCMP are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect involved in a violent road rage incident recorded on dashcam footage.

The Burnaby Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are appealing to the public for information regarding a violent road rage incident that occurred in August 2025. Video footage taken on August 19 captures a male suspect exiting his vehicle near Dover Street and Royal Oak and violently attacking the driver’s side window of another car, ultimately shattering it. Following this aggressive act, the suspect returned to the victim's vehicle to seize a cellphone from the dashboard, which he then hurled at the passenger. Fortunately, both occupants of the vehicle involved, the driver and passenger, were unharmed by the incident.

According to the RCMP, their investigation has already led them to identify the passenger in the suspect's vehicle as its registered owner. However, this individual has reportedly declined to assist police by providing information regarding the identity of the suspect. Cpl. Mike Kalanj has described the video as "hard to watch" and emphasized the inexcusable nature of the displayed violence. The police remain hopeful that the community will rally to support the investigation by coming forward with any relevant information.

This incident raises significant concerns regarding public safety and the prevalence of road rage in urban environments, where both unpredictable behavior and aggressive confrontation can arise among drivers. The RCMP's proactive approach in seeking public assistance is essential in resolving this case and highlighting the importance of accountability for such aggressive actions on the road.
