The mixed curling team defeats the British early in the Paralympics, celebrating their third win

Latvia's mixed curling team achieved their third victory in eight games at the Paralympic Games, outperforming the British team, who have struggled with only one win.

Latvia's mixed curling team, consisting of athletes Elija Asniņa, Adelaidi Kiliani, Ojārs Briedis, Sergejs Djačenko, and Linda Meijere, has made a strong showing at the Paralympic Games, securing three wins out of eight games. They currently share the seventh place with Slovakia in the competition of ten teams, while the British team has struggled significantly, accumulating only one win so far. The Norwegians sit slightly above with two wins but still have one game pending, placing additional pressure on the British team to perform better in the remaining matches.

In an interview with the Latvian team’s coach, Rihards Jeske expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, particularly highlighting their achievement of bronze medals and their determination to continue fighting for victories in the remaining games. Jeske's optimism reflects an encouraging atmosphere within the team, despite their current standing in the competition's rankings. The team is keen to improve their record and make a strong finish in this prestigious tournament.

The match showcased Latvia's strategic prowess, as they opened with their best start of the tournament, scoring four points in the first end. Although Latvia faced challenges in the second end where Djačenko made two critical errors, they rebounded in the third end, demonstrating resilience and skill. With this win, Latvia aims to build momentum and advance further as the Paralympics progress, hoping to leave a lasting mark on this international stage.
