Fouad Siniora, a former Prime Minister of Lebanon, has issued a warning regarding the heightened tensions between Hezbollah and Israel, suggesting that these developments may pave the way for a possible Israeli ground invasion of southern Lebanon. Siniora noted that current military activities appear designed to urge residents to evacuate areas around the Litani River, indicating preparations for future military actions by Israeli forces. He expressed concern that such actions would displace the population and escalate the humanitarian crisis in the region.

In his remarks, Siniora criticized Hezbollah's involvement in the military confrontation with Israel, asserting that this decision has drawn Lebanon into a regional conflict that lacks any mandate from the Lebanese people or state institutions. He emphasized that the Lebanese government had previously made clear commitments to centralize military power, affirming that all arms should be under the control of the state and that military or security operations outside this framework were to be prohibited. Nevertheless, he pointed out that Hezbollah has continued to engage in military operations, thereby providing Israel with further justification to intensify its attacks within Lebanese territories.

Siniora also highlighted the extensive damage caused by recent Israeli military operations, which have resulted in the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Lebanese citizens. He specified that over 700,000 people have been forcibly displaced, with around 150,000 of these individuals being children. The ongoing violence and instability in the region raise significant concerns about humanitarian conditions, as families are uprooted from their homes and face uncertainties about their future amid the worsening situation.
