Suspect of running over, assaulting, and killing a 20-year-old woman in Manaus surrenders to the police
Luciano Vieira Gonçalves, the suspect in the assault and murder of 20-year-old Cibele Felix de Lima in Manaus, has surrendered to police after nearly a month on the run.
Luciano Vieira Gonçalves, 33, has turned himself in to the police after being wanted for the assault and murder of Cibele Felix de Lima, 20, in Manaus. The incident occurred on February 14, when Cibele was struck by a vehicle and subsequently assaulted by the driver. After almost a month of evading law enforcement, Gonçalves presented himself at the Homicide and Kidnapping Division, accompanied by legal counsel, and chose not to make any statements to the press.
The attack was captured on security camera footage showing a black car speeding through an empty street before hitting Cibele, who was flung several meters upon impact. Following the collision, Gonçalves exited his vehicle and physically assaulted the victim while she lay injured on the ground, before fleeing the scene. Cibele was taken to a local hospital, but ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
This tragic event has raised significant concern within the local community regarding traffic safety and violence.
