Driver without a license is arrested while transporting nearly 20,000 packs of cigarettes on a highway in the interior of SP
A driver in Brazil was arrested for transporting nearly 20,000 packs of contraband cigarettes and for driving without a valid license.
On Wednesday, a 29-year-old driver was apprehended on the Comandante João Ribeiro de Barros highway in Dracena, São Paulo, while transporting a significant amount of contraband tobacco. The police, under the 'Operação Impacto', pulled over the vehicle at kilometer 653 and discovered nearly 19,000 packs of cigarettes concealed in 38 boxes that lacked proper documentation. Notably, the driver did not possess a valid driver's license (CNH) at the time of the incident.
Police have underscored the seriousness of the driver's offenses, leading to his arrest for contraband. The contraband cargo, the vehicle used for transportation, and a cell phone were impounded and subsequently transported to the Federal Police station in Araçatuba. This operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat illegal smuggling operations in the region, reinforcing the need for vigilance on highways.
In a separate incident on the same day, the police also confiscated 220 cell phones of various models in Teodoro Sampaio, which further illustrates the scope of illegal activities occurring within São Paulo state. These enforcement actions emphasize the authorities' commitment to tackling contraband and ensuring public safety.
