Tallink Silja has announced an increase in ticket prices on the Helsinki-Tallinn route due to the rising oil prices caused by the war in Iran, although passenger cruise prices will remain unchanged for now.
In response to the rising oil prices linked to the ongoing war in Iran, Tallink Silja has decided to raise ticket prices on its fast ferry services between Helsinki and Tallinn by one euro. According to CEO Margus Schults, fuel expenses account for approximately 13% of the company's operating costs, equating to about 100 million euros annually. As global market prices for oil rise, Tallink Silja anticipates an increase in operational costs that could reach millions of euros, prompting the need for price adjustments.
