The firm response of the Minister of National Defense to Nawrocki's proposal. "We will not agree to this"

The Polish Minister of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, responded firmly against a proposal regarding the 'Polish SAFE' initiative, emphasizing the urgent need for defense funding and production capabilities.

During a session in the Sejm, Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz addressed journalists concerning Karol Nawrocki's endorsed proposal for 'Polish SAFE 0%'. Kosiniak-Kamysz expressed a desire for President Andrzej Duda to sign off on the SAFE project, indicating that preparations by the military and the Armament Agency were in place and ready for contracts that could bolster Poland's defense capabilities. He stressed that the military is in 'full readiness' to begin operations as soon as the necessary approvals come through.

Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted the pressing needs within the defense sector, stating that there was an urgency to enhance production capacities, a process that has been ongoing for two years with significant investments. He noted that the Polish Group of Armaments is set to receive a five billion zloty investment aimed at fortifying the nation's defense infrastructure. The Minister urged for additional funds to be directed from the National Bank of Poland to support these initiatives, framing the need for increased financial backing as critical for national security.

The Minister asserted that the proposed legislation concerning the Polish Defense Investments Fund did not alter his position on defense procurement. He conveyed an openness to receiving any financial resources that could facilitate the defense enhancements, implying that the government's current funding mechanisms and budget allocations are vital for addressing the evolving security landscape in Poland, particularly amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
