Researchers from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya found recurring patterns in Tinder profiles that contribute to user fatigue and dissatisfaction with the app.
Researchers from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) have conducted a study analyzing over 1,000 real Tinder profiles to explore the reasons behind users' feelings of repetitive browsing, disillusionment, and depersonalization while using the dating app. Led by psychologist Alejandro García Alamán, the research combined psychological coding with data analysis and machine learning techniques. García Alamán noted that he was hearing increasing dissatisfaction from users of dating apps, similar to feelings of burnout experienced in the workplace, motivating the project.
