Video: Anacondas are caught devouring animals on the streets of Teresina, and residents call the environmental police
Residents of a street in Teresina, Brazil, reported sightings of large anacondas preying on small animals, raising concerns for local safety.
Residents on Francisco Silva Street in the FΓ‘tima neighborhood of Teresina, Brazil, have reported multiple sightings of large anacondas preying on small animals, including a cat, which has created a sense of fear among locals. One resident stated that these snakes, supposedly around 13 feet long, have been venturing out from nearby lagoons to hunt small pets and wildlife in the area, posing a danger to children and pets.
On Tuesday, residents recorded a video showing one of the anacondas actively consuming a cat, which has heightened local anxiety. Several residents expressed their concerns to a local news outlet, stressing that the situation is dire, especially as children and students frequently traverse the area. They suggested that the presence of these snakes not only threatens small animals but also poses significant risk to the community at large.
Authorities, specifically the Environmental Police, were notified about the anacondas; however, reports suggest that they were unable to locate the snakes during their investigation. This incident highlights not only the challenges of wildlife encroachment in urban areas but also the need for effective measures to ensure public safety and animal control in neighborhoods experiencing similar wildlife interactions.
