Tunnel closed in Oslo - long queues

A tunnel in Oslo has been closed due to a trailer accident, causing significant traffic delays.

In Oslo, long queues have formed on the E6 and road 150 following the closure of the Vålerenga Tunnel just before the evening rush hour. The tunnel was shut down after a trailer collided with signage or similar structures within the tunnel, as confirmed by police operations leader Bjørn Gunanr Nysæter in the incident log. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported from the accident.

As the situation unfolded, recovery vehicles arrived on the scene by around 3:46 PM, and authorities indicated that the tunnel will remain closed until the trailer can be safely moved. The traffic situation has been notably impacted, especially as it coincides with peak rush hour, which has exacerbated delays on surrounding roadways. This underscores the potential for traffic disruptions during high-traffic periods.

Turid Nymann from the East Traffic Central reported to VG that the tunnel is currently in the process of reopening. Given the timing of the incident amidst the evening rush hour, it is expected that the reopening will help alleviate some of the traffic buildup experienced earlier. Authorities are working to clear the area as quickly as possible to restore normal traffic flow, highlighting the importance of swift response measures in managing urban traffic incidents.
