'We have been betrayed': Nagorno-Karabakh ex-minister on Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal
Artak Beglaryan, the former state minister of Nagorno-Karabakh, expresses disappointment over the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace deal, highlighting that it does not address the needs of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
In an interview with FRANCE 24, Artak Beglaryan, the former state minister and human rights ombudsman of Nagorno-Karabakh, voiced his grievances regarding the peace declaration signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan in August 2023. Despite initial cautious optimism surrounding the agreement, which was signed in Washington with the presence of US President Donald Trump, Beglaryan emphasized that the declaration fails to include any provisions or assurances for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, leaving many in a state of uncertainty. He stated, 'Itβs relatively good news,' yet he juxtaposed this sentiment with deep concern for his compatriots who are experiencing continued hardships due to displacement and lack of recognition.
