Orishas returns to Brazil with shows that mix hip-hop and rhythms of Cuba
The Cuban group Orishas is back in Brazil for shows in several cities after a long hiatus, featuring only two of the original members.
The Cuban hip-hop group Orishas is set to perform in Brazil after a significant absence since 2019, when they promoted their album "Gourmet." This new tour includes stops in major cities like São Paulo, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, and Rio de Janeiro, with their São Paulo concert scheduled for this Sunday at the Tokio Marine Hall, where tickets are still available. This marks the band's tenth performance in Brazil, showing their enduring popularity in the country.
The current lineup for this tour consists of Yotuel Romero and Roldán González, marking a change as original member Ruzzo Medina will not be participating. Orishas originally disbanded in 2009, reunited in 2016, and then dissolved again in 2021 due to internal disputes. According to Romero, the band's return stems from a recognition of their significant musical legacy, emphasizing the importance of continuing their artistic journey despite previous challenges.
Romero articulated a strong sentiment about the band's history, indicating that the music they created holds substantial value that should not simply fade away. He expressed a commitment to honor the group's contributions to music and culture, signifying a hopeful return to the spotlight for both the band and their dedicated fanbase.
