The Tax Administration has problems - reveals others than themselves
Norway's Tax Administration is experiencing a technical issue that briefly exposed unknown names to users logging into their website, though no personal data was accessed.
The Tax Administration of Norway has confirmed that a technical glitch on their website led to unintended visibility of names to some users who logged in. Christer Gilje, the agency's press chief, stated that, according to their knowledge, no personal information or tax records were compromised during this incident. The administration is actively investigating the cause of the problem and is working diligently to resolve the issue. One individual affected by the glitch, BjΓΈrn Bondevik from Grimstad, reported that upon logging in, he was presented with a list containing the names and birth dates of 49 unfamiliar individuals. Although he could see the names, any attempt to access further information resulted in an error message. Bondevik expressed concern over the potential for privacy violations, highlighting the seriousness of the situation. This incident raises important questions about data security protocols in governmental agencies, particularly concerning the handling of sensitive personal information. As the Tax Administration works to uncover the roots of this system flaw, they will face increased scrutiny regarding their measures to protect citizen data in the future, given the heightened awareness of privacy issues in today's digital landscape.
