219 kilograms of skunk valued at over 750,000 euros uncovered – 3 arrests

Three individuals, including two Greeks and one Albanian, were arrested for drug trafficking involving a large quantity of skunk cannabis in Greece.

Greek authorities made significant arrests in a drug trafficking case involving 219 kilograms of skunk cannabis, valued at over €750,000. The arrests were made by officers from the Directorate of Drug Enforcement and Smuggling of the Hellenic Coast Guard and local anti-drug units in the Piraeus area. The suspects, two Greek nationals aged 42 and 58, and a 46-year-old Albanian, were apprehended following a successful operation that tracked the large-scale importation of raw cannabis from Spain.

The operation unfolded on Monday morning when authorities conducted a search at a transportation company's facilities in western Attica, where they discovered the cannabis cleverly concealed within specially designed compartments in two wooden crates. A total of 108 packages containing skunk cannabis, weighing approximately 122.874 kilograms, were uncovered. Following up on this discovery, authorities continued their investigation, leading to the identification of two additional crates containing cannabis, bringing the total haul to a substantial 219 kilograms.

This significant seizure highlights ongoing efforts by Greek law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and further emphasizes the international nature of such operations, with smuggling routes extending from Spain to Greece. The case is expected to prompt further investigations into trafficking networks operating in the region as authority efforts intensify to dismantle operations involving large shipments of narcotics.
