The chief of the elite Iranian units has disappeared. There are speculations that he was an Israeli spy

Speculations about possible information leaks have intensified following a series of attacks that resulted in the deaths of high-ranking Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Speculations have escalated regarding possible leaks of sensitive information after a series of attacks led to the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian officials, most notably Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Questions arose about how the attackers were able to accurately pinpoint their locations, leading to suspicions about General Esmail Qaani being compromised and potentially working as a spy to gather critical security secrets. This incident highlights the growing concerns within Iran regarding internal security and the integrity of their elite military units.

Aside from Khamenei's death, questions were also raised concerning an Israeli list of targets for assassination, which had been declared exhaustive at the onset of the conflict; however, Qaani’s name was surprisingly absent from this list. Some reports indicated that Qaani had, for instance, evacuated the Iranian consulate in Damascus shortly after an Israeli attack on April 1, 2024, which suggests a level of foreknowledge or escape from impending danger. Similar speculations arose following a bombing in Lebanon last year that resulted in the death of Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah, pointing to a pattern of identifying and eliminating key figures within hostile entities by Israel.

Furthermore, according to a report cited by France24, General Qaani was allegedly arrested in Iran on charges of espionage, interrogated, and subsequently executed. This shocking revelation has raised alarms among Iranian leadership about their vulnerability to foreign intelligence operations. In response to these allegations, an Iranian official denied that Qaani was incapacitated, asserting that he is actively leading operations on the ground, indicating a significant tension within Iranian military ranks as they grapple with both external and internal threats to their authority.
