Zé Renato sings samba with love and devotion to the greats in a show in Rio
Zé Renato performed a heartfelt samba concert at Teatro Ipanema, celebrating the genre and his musical roots.
Zé Renato shone on the stage at Teatro Ipanema as he delivered a celebration of samba with his show 'Samba e amor'. Performing iconic pieces like the Afro-samba 'Consolação' and the sambacanção 'Duas horas da manhã', he infused the evening with nostalgia and love for the musical genre that has shaped his life. The event is part of the 'Terças no Ipanema' project, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of samba in Rio de Janeiro.
The performance was marked by his emotional connection to the music, which stems from his childhood memories of growing up in a household immersed in samba culture, courtesy of his father, Simão de Montalverne, a notable figure in the bohemian nightlife and music scene. During the second of four shows on March 10, Zé Renato expressed his deep love for samba not only through his own performances but also by inviting fellow musician Paulinho Moska to join him on stage. Together, they performed their collaboration 'Cama da ilusão', demonstrating the vibrant camaraderie found within the samba community.
As the show unfolded, Zé Renato honored the legacy of Brazilian samba, paying tribute to the legends of the genre that have come before him while fostering a sense of community and appreciation for the art form among the audience. The event not only highlighted his individual artistry but also served as a reminder of samba’s enduring impact on Brazilian culture.
