Football: 11 years after selling the club, Peugeot officially reconnects with FC Sochaux-Montbéliard

Peugeot has officially announced a new five-year partnership with FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, marking a return to the club they sold 11 years ago.

On Wednesday, Peugeot and FC Sochaux-Montbéliard unveiled a new partnership, heralding a significant reconnection years after the club was sold to a Chinese buyer. The announcement took place at the Stellantis assembly workshop in Sochaux, which holds historical significance as the birthplace of the renowned automobile brand. This collaboration not only symbolizes Peugeot's return to its roots but also aims to enhance community ties and support for the team.

Alain Favey, Peugeot's managing director, emphasized the importance of this partnership, suggesting that it represents a step back towards the company's heritage. Although he did not disclose the financial details of the agreement, Favey mentioned that the terms would adapt based on the club's performance in the National league, currently where they are performing notably as the third-ranking team. The agreement includes the display of the Peugeot logo on the players' and youth academy jerseys, ensuring brand visibility and support for future talents.

This relationship aligns with Peugeot's strategic goal to reinforce its association with local heritage while also promoting sports and fostering young athletes in the Sochaux area, embodying a community-focused initiative as well as a significant branding effort. It also highlights the continuing evolution of the club, which has seen changes and challenges since its ownership transfer and indicates a commitment to its growth and legacy in French football.
