Mum lost vision and developed brain tumours 'after contraceptive jab'

A woman from Scotland claims that she lost her vision and developed multiple brain tumours due to the contraceptive jab, leading her to seek legal action against its manufacturer.

Tammy Croston, a 47-year-old mother from Fife, Scotland, has alleged that her vision loss and the development of four non-cancerous brain tumours were caused by the long-term use of the Depo-Provera contraceptive jab. She began receiving this injectable contraceptive in 1999, utilizing it intermittently over several years. Serious complications arose following surgery to remove the tumours, resulting in the permanent loss of sight in her right eye.

Currently, Tammy is one of approximately 11 women in Scotland who have initiated legal claims against Pfizer, the manufacturer of the contraceptive. Despite their small numbers, these claims highlight significant concerns regarding the medical safety and side effects of long-term contraceptive use. Facing jurisdictional challenges has made it difficult for Tammy to secure legal representation, but she remains determined to present her case and pursue compensation for her suffering.

In light of Tammy's case, the broader implications regarding contraceptive safety and women's health have come to the forefront. As she prepares to meet her local Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) to advocate for her cause, her situation raises awareness about the potential risks associated with medications aimed at reproductive health and the processes in place for addressing such grievances within the legal system.
