In Ipubi, Pernambuco, a 34-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday (10) after attempting to kidnap a five-year-old girl from the sidewalk of her home. As the child was playing, the man approached her and invited her to follow him to an abandoned lot nearby. Fortunately, a neighbor observed the suspicious interaction and shouted for the girl to return, causing the man to flee the scene.

The police were alerted and promptly conducted search operations in the area, leading to the identification and capture of the suspect. Upon his arrest, authorities found the man in possession of a knife, 27 condoms, and a tube of lubricant, raising concerns about his intentions. The quick response from vigilant community members and law enforcement played a critical role in preventing the abduction.

The man was taken to the 204th Police Station in Ipubi for legal proceedings. Following an initial hearing, he is now under judicial custody while the investigation continues.
