A 64-year-old truck driver died following a collision between two trucks on BR-101 in Rio Novo do Sul, Espírito Santo.

On the morning of March 10, a tragic accident occurred on BR-101 in Rio Novo do Sul, Espírito Santo, resulting in the death of a 64-year-old truck driver, Odinilson Cezar. The collision involved two trucks; Cezar was driving a white truck towards Rio de Janeiro when a green truck, driven by a 27-year-old, veered into oncoming traffic, apparently due to losing control in wet conditions. Fortunately, the younger driver was uninjured and not under the influence of alcohol as determined by a breathalyzer test conducted at the scene.

The incident caused significant disruption, leading to the total closure of BR-101 around 10 AM, which resulted in traffic jams extending approximately 10 kilometers from the toll plaza. The toll operator, Ecovias Capixaba, reported that motorists experienced considerable delays due to the collision. Emergency teams and traffic management were on-site to handle the situation and assist with the aftermath of the accident, signaling the importance of road safety and attentiveness, especially in adverse weather conditions.

Traffic began to flow through a detour by 3 PM, with the road eventually fully reopened by 1 AM the next day. This incident highlights the dangers of highway travel and raises awareness about the need for proper vehicle control in adverse weather, which can lead to severe consequences as seen in this unfortunate event.
