NKVC activates flood management plan: services prepare for rising waters, list of danger zones published
The NKVC has activated its flood management plan in response to rising water levels in several regions of Lithuania, although there is currently no immediate risk for residents.
The National Public Health Center (NKVC) has initiated its flood management plan due to rising water levels and ice jams reported in rivers throughout Lithuania, particularly near Gintauninkai, Žilpamūšis, Aunuvėnai, Šilininkai, Rusnė, Zervynai, Kūlynai, and Plaškiai. While the NKVC states there is no immediate danger to residents and evacuation is not necessary at this time, they recommend that those living in risk zones take precautionary measures by moving valuable items from basements, preparing important documents, and ensuring they have sufficient food and water supplies for a few days.
