Garage Found a Real Treasure – Like a Time Capsule with Incredible 12 km Mileage

A nearly unused Renault 5 with only 12 km on the odometer has been discovered, serving as a unique automotive time capsule.

A Renault 5, with an astonishing mileage of just 12 kilometers, has been found in a garage, described as a true time capsule. This miniature hatchback was so rarely used that its only trip was from the dealership to the owner's garage. The owner, a French woman who had not yet obtained her driver's license at the time of purchase, had the car delivered to her home and subsequently never drove it herself due to a lack of confidence despite eventually acquiring her driving license.

The vehicle remains in remarkably preserved condition, still bearing its original French transit plates. Although the car has accumulated a layer of dust and dirt over the years, all original documents are intact, and the Renault 5 was properly registered. The owner decided to keep the original license plates stored in the trunk. This rare find highlights not only the significance of automotive history but also the affection and trepidation surrounding first-time car ownership.

Plans to restore the Renault 5 include cleaning the exterior and refurbishing its engine, a 1.1-liter motor producing 45 horsepower, with the intent of reviving the vehicle to operational status. Once restored, this Renault 5 is anticipated to serve as an intriguing relic of the past, showcasing automotive design and technology from an era where such small cars held a unique charm and significance in driving culture.
