The Greek Parliament's Production and Trade Committee has approved contracts with Chevron and HELLENiQ Energy for hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation rights.
On March 12, 2023, the Production and Trade Committee of the Greek Parliament voted in favor of a bill concerning four agreements between Greece and the consortium of Chevron and HELLENiQ Energy. This bill, introduced by the Ministry of Energy and Environment, focuses on the granting of exploration and exploitation rights for hydrocarbons in specific areas of Greece. The decision was supported by the ruling New Democracy party and the Greek Solution party, while the Communist Party of Greece, New Left, and Freedom Party voted against it. Other parties such as PASOK, SYRIZA, and NIKI have reserved their positions for the upcoming plenary session.
