Anna Kowalczuk has been appointed as the new president of Poland's Medical Research Agency (ABM), as announced in the Public Information Bulletin on March 10. Her extensive background in the healthcare system, particularly regarding the interactions between public and private sectors and the implementation of development strategies, positions her well for this leadership role. Kowalczuk's qualifications are further supported by her nearly 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, showcasing her expertise in both medical technology and healthcare administration.

Prior to her new role, Kowalczuk served as the vice president of the Medical Technology Assessment and Pricing Agency from August 2024, where she was responsible for analyzing and valuing medical services. Her previous leadership position as director of the National Medicines Institute from 2017 to 2022 further illustrates her capability in managing and evaluating health-related projects and policies. Additionally, she was recognized as "Woman of the Health Market" during the 10th Congress of Health Challenges in Katowice in 2025, which underscores her contributions to the field.

Kowalczuk's academic background includes graduating from the Medical University of Warsaw and completing postgraduate studies, equipping her with a solid foundation for her new responsibilities.
