The One World Human Rights Film Festival Kicks Off, Featuring Rapper Pogány Induló
The 28th edition of the One World Human Rights Film Festival is set to begin in Prague with numerous documentary films and an appearance by rapper Pogány Induló.
The One World Human Rights Film Festival, now in its 28th year, will commence on March 11 in Prague, showcasing a rich lineup of 82 documentaries, 16 feature films, and eight virtual reality projects. The films will present compelling stories from regions such as Gaza, Ukraine, and Belarus, highlighting essential human rights issues and narratives from around the world. The festival will open with the presentation of the Homo Homini award to Mikalaj Statkevič, a political prisoner and key figure in the Belarusian democratic opposition, emphasizing the festival's commitment to human rights advocacy.
Following the award ceremony, a world premiere of the Hungarian film 'Tak to mělo bejt' (That's How It Was Supposed to Be) will take place, featuring an introduction by the lead star, rapper Pogány Induló. This event not only celebrates cinematic storytelling but also aims to engage audiences with pressing social issues through the lens of diverse experiences. The festival will span from March 11 to March 19 in ten theaters, followed by the Prague Echoes events in seven more locations throughout the city.
In addition, the One World Festival will extend beyond Prague, running in a record 60 cities across the Czech Republic until April 24. With a total of 106 films presented, the festival is not just a local event but a significant cultural gathering that draws attention to human rights through various filmic expressions, encouraging discussions and reflections on the state of rights and freedoms globally and domestically.
