Estonian handball team prepares for match postponed due to accident
The Estonian men's handball team is getting ready for a rescheduled match against Cyprus after their opponents were involved in a bus accident.
The Estonian men's handball team, under the guidance of coaches Kaj Kekki and Janar Mägi, is convening in Tallinn next week to prepare for a crucial qualifying match against the national team of Cyprus for the European Championships. This match was originally set to take place after the Estonian team faced Cyprus in an away game earlier this year, where they emerged victorious with a score of 31:27. Unfortunately, the scheduled rematch had to be postponed due to a bus accident involving the Cypriot team on their way to the venue.
The rescheduled match is set for Saturday, March 21, at 16:00, to be held at the Kalevi Sports Hall in Tallinn. Prior to this important qualifier, the Estonian team will play two friendly matches against Great Britain, which are open to the public. These practice games are intended to sharpen the players' skills and build team cohesion ahead of the high-stakes qualifier, as they aim to advance further in the qualifications towards the 2028 European Championships.
With the Estonian team now fully focusing on their upcoming matches, their opponents, Great Britain, have shown improvement since their last encounters, making for exciting and potentially competitive games. The coaching team emphasizes the importance of these friendlies not only as preparation for the rescheduled match against Cyprus but also to enhance the overall quality and competitive spirit of the team as they pursue success in European handball.
