New massacre in Kordofan and Khartoum calls for classifying the Rapid Support Forces as a 'terrorist organization'
A new massacre in Kordofan resulted in the death of seven people, leading to calls from Khartoum for designating the Rapid Support Forces as a terrorist organization.
A recent attack in the city of Delang in South Kordofan has resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including a child, and injuries to thirteen others during artillery shelling that targeted residential areas. The Sudan Doctors Network has accused both the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement/North (led by Abdel Azizi al-Hilu) of carrying out the bombardment, noting that these actions have instigated fear and displacement among the local population.
The Sudan Doctors Network condemned this act as a severe violation of international humanitarian law, holding the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces fully accountable for the civilian casualties. They have urged the international community and UN organizations to intervene swiftly to halt such violations. Additionally, Sudan's foreign ministry denounced the attacks, labeling them as part of a 'deliberate criminal trend' and called upon the international community, especially the UN and Security Council, to take a strong stance against the aggressions and hold the perpetrators accountable.
This escalation in violence comes amid fierce clashes that have been ongoing in the three Kordofan states since October 2025 between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, raising concerns over the humanitarian situation as civilians continue to bear the brunt of the conflict. The call from Khartoum reflects a growing urgency to address the violence and protect civilians caught in the crossfire of what has become a protracted conflict.
