She fought for developers, now she wants to fight for the state. The long-time manager of Finep is to implement the new construction law.

The Czech government has appointed Hana Landová, a former Finep manager, to implement the new construction law, which has been a key topic in the pre-election campaign.

The amendment to the construction law was one of the significant issues during the election campaign in Czechia, with the second-in-command of the ANO movement, Karel Havlíček, gaining political support by promising to expedite construction. This law is crucial for the Czech economy, affecting the building of apartments and public investments. Following this, the new Minister for Regional Development, Zuzana Mrázová, has taken up the challenge to make the construction law a priority for her department.

With the complexity and technical nature of the legislation, the government decided to appoint an expert from the field to handle its implementation. Thus, at the end of January, Hana Landová was designated as the government agent responsible for this area, while also starting her role at the Ministry of Regional Development. Her professional background includes significant work experience both with the Chamber of Commerce and as a manager for the developer Finep.

The new amendment to the law has faced criticism for favoring large players in the construction market. Landová's involvement in the implementation of this law raises questions about potential conflicts of interest, especially given her previous ties to Finep. As she transitions from advocating for developers to implementing government policy, the effectiveness and impartiality of this process will be under observation, reflecting wider tensions between business interests and regulatory frameworks within Czechia's construction sector.
