The next leader leaves the government office
Maria Kütt, the head of the government office's competence center, is leaving her position, marking the second departure of a department head in a short time.
Maria Kütt, who has led the competence center at the Estonian government office (Riigikantselei) since 2022, is set to leave her role to work in the private sector. This departure marks the second exit of a department head at Riigikantselei in a short period, indicating potential shifts within the leadership structure. Kütt emphasizes that it is natural for people in leadership positions to change roles periodically.
Kütt holds a master's degree in organizational behavior from Tallinn University and has previously worked as the director of the personnel department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as the HR manager for Coca-Cola in the Baltic region. The competence center is responsible for the recruiting, selection, assessment, and development of top officials in the public service, highlighting its significance in ensuring effective governance and administration.
This week, it was also announced that Mari-Liis Sööt, who served as the strategy director since 2023, will resign voluntarily. The strategy director plays a crucial role in supporting the government and the prime minister in coordinating and planning policies, leading the strategy office. These changes in the senior leadership of Riigikantselei could have implications for the continuity and effectiveness of Estonia's governance and strategic initiatives.
